Play Area – Square design The existing square was underutilized consisting of desolate hardscape reminiscent of a previous water feature. Soft edges and round shapes were introduced to soften the hard edge from retailers to the square. The play area has been designed around different age groups and with an understanding of the parental proximity requirements as well as age appropriate stimulation, with for instance benches at the sandpit for the younger toddler’s parent and the bigger play elements closer to where the external restaurant seats are. Access points were placed between landscaped planters to not only allow natural flows, but further assist with visual tracking of children and creating a safe play environment. Two kiosks have been placed at the entrance to the square to further add vibrance to the area. The use of fairy lights to the trees and carnival lights over the square creates for a welcome and festive vibe come sunset…
SANRIDGE SQUARE
Kiosk design To fulfil a leasing requirement the client had and to further enhance the pedestrian experience at the precinct, a multi-functional kiosk has been designed to be able to cater for numerous types of tenants. The kiosk has been designed form sustainable materials that can handle weather and the plug-and-play nature means it is a mobile unit that can serve as pop-up shop anywhere. Clever use of materials and hinges enables such to be as open and permeable as any tenant would need with different display-options for merchandise, yet lockable and secure to sustain any context. The green wall hides the fixing points and power to support any tenant signage. The kiosk has proven so successful that we are busy with the role-out of two more kiosks at another of the client’s centres.
INGRESS BUILDING 3
Podium development The project sees the completion of the third of five commercial office buildings within the precinct. The first 3 buildings create the first phase positioned around a central courtyard with coffee shops and intimate landscaped seating areas. Great effort has been taken to create different settings along the courtyard and in between buildings where landscaping and seating create comfortable pause areas for staff to take breaks. The pedestrian design further includes walkways lined with custom designed benches, signage and art contributing to the fabric of the precinct.
